All congregations, schools and organizations of the CA-NV-HI District LCMS are eligible to apply for a CA-NV-HI District Church Extension Fund loan.

It is recommended that a congregation contact CEF as soon as it begins to consider expansion of existing facilities or relocation.  CEF can be of great help in guiding a congregation through the process of planning, budgeting, fund raising, and obtaining a loan.  See the Services page for more details.

The Loan process at CEF begins by submitting a loan application and current financials to our office. The application is reviewed by staff and/or the CEF Loan Committee.  Some of the factors considered in the approval process are the congregation’s ability to service the debt, the contribution ability of the congregation, and total debt per communicant member. 

CEF offers three basic types of loans:

Construction:   (application form click here)
Generally 12 to 18 months in duration, these loans are typically set up to automatically convert to permanent financing at the end of construction. Monthly payments of interest-only are due during the course of construction, and the interest rate adjusts quarterly.  At the end of construction, the loan converts to a 25 year amortized loan with the rate adjusting every three years.

Fully amortized loans are generally set up for periods of up to 25 years.  The interest rate on these loans adjust every three years. 

Line of Credit:  (application form click here)
The CEF Line of Credit is designed for cash flow purposes with a maximum loan of $50,000.  These revolving Lines of Credit are generally unsecured and written for one-year terms, renewable annually.  Interest-only payments are due monthly, and the interest rate adjusts quarterly.
